Fans' Dismay at New City Kit

New strip: home and away

Hull fans today voiced their unhappiness at the club's choice of kit for their forthcoming Premiership season.

"We feel strongly that it sends out the wrong message to other teams in the division," said a Mr Stray Photon, claiming to be the spokesman for the Twickenham chapter of the Southern Supporters club. He also happens to be Spraying the Rays' Beer and Football correspondent.

"At a time when footballers of the calibre of Ronaldo, Adebayor and Lampard are queuing up to join the exodus of pampered Premier league primadonnas who would rather play abroad than face the might of the Tigers, this new home kit projects an unnecesarily pessimistic image of the club," he continued.

"There are lower league clubs such as Crystal Palace, Leeds and Brentford who would be more than pleased to be in our position, and maybe we should be a bit more positive about the campaign."

Brown: blunt

However Hull manager Phil Brown defended the move away from the team's traditional colours of black and amber.

"To be blunt, the old Tiger style kit is gaudy, decadent and entirely out of keeping with today's mood of austerity and world recession. The club need to be more prudent in its choice of colours in the future."

Mr Brown denied rumours that he was under pressure from within the organisation to change the kit policy at Hull. However at a hastily arranged press conference a few minutes later some key changes seemed to have been made to the home strip.

New signing Ronaldo models revamped kit

Meanwhile on BBC2 born again Hull City fan Jeremy Paxman made his feelings plain:

Paxo: even blunter

"Oh come on. Do you really expect us to believe any football team would ever turn out in a kit anything like that?"

Probably not.

Is that a young Ruuuuuuud Van Nistelroy playing in a Gucci tiger skin kit for some obscure dutch 2nd XI early in his career? Good luck to 'Ull and all who sail in her. Nice fish n chips apparently...

It's actually the legendary Gary Hobson who went on from the tigers to play for Brighton and then...er, well that was about it, I think.

Unless you count Chester and York, of course.

But who does?
